Let's meet...

We understand that not everyone knows exactly what an architect does and whether you will need one for your project. That is why it is important to us to start with a free site visit.

This allows us to meet, discuss your needs and give some initial advice.

Following this, we will be able to confirm our proposed next steps and will include a fee quotation outlining the services to be provided, and what to expect at each stage. We always try to give you a fixed fee because we know that you will want certainty about costs.

  • Free site visit to discuss your project

  • Followed by a clear fee proposal

Understanding more about you and your project...

Once appointed, we undertake a more in-depth design consultation to  fully understand what you want, talk about what you like and discuss how best to achieve it.

Alongside this we undertake and draw up an accurate, measured site survey.

The survey will allow us to identify the constraints and opportunities accurately, ensuring that proposals are realistic and well considered from the outset.

  • Design consultation

  • Measured site survey

Feasibility & design development...

We use feasibility studies to establish the big picture of how the different elements you want are arranged and relate to one another.

Using sketch layout options we can together identify the benefits and challenges offered in order to agree on a design you are happy with.

Your preferred option is then worked up into a more detailed design layout.

We offer an optional service to build a 3d model of your project which can help to visualise the design.

  • Sketch options & ideas to discuss

  • Developed preferred design layouts

  • Optional 3d model & visualisations of your project

Approvals...

Depending on your scheme, building and location you may need to seek permissions and consents from your local planning authority and other organisations. We can advise you of what is required, produce  relevant packages of information and drawings, and complete the associated applications on your behalf.

We can support you through these processes and also act on your behalf negotiating and responding to any queries they may raise

  • Advice on requirements

  • Developed design information sufficient to meet submission requirements

  • Submission & management of the  application

Tendering & Building Regulations...

After securing relevant approvals we can prepare technical construction drawings and your building regulations submission package. This information will clearly set out in detail all the requirements for your project and allow you to obtain like-for-like, accurate quotes for the works.

This stage of work will often require input from other consultants such as a structural engineer. We will coordinate the design with others to ensure that the final package maintains your requirements.

  • Coordination of the design with others (such as a structural engineer)

  • Technical drawing package sufficient for tendering & building regulations application

During construction...

You may wish to have additional support on the project during construction. In which case we can continue working with you and your chosen builder, visit site and if required manage the Contract. If not, then that is fine also, and we will still be available to talk through issues that may arise, or discuss any changes you are considering.
